JESUS IS REST FOR THE WEARY, HE IS HEALING FOR THE BROKENHEARTED - HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

Born Again Now What

BORN AGAIN – NOW WHAT?

1)  GET BAPTIZED IN WATER AND IN THE HOLY SPIRIT:

We clearly see in the Book of Acts (which is our picture of the new Church after Christ's ascension and the Apostles carried on Christ's commission), that every time an individual was born again through faith in Jesus, two additional steps followed in every case: (1) they were baptized in water by immersion; and (2) they were baptized in the Holy Spirit (and spoke in tongues and/or prophesied immediately following the baptism in the Holy Spirit).  (read more about being filled with the Holy Spirit HERE

2)  ABIDE/REMAIN IN HIM – BEAR FRUIT – BE A DISCIPLE:

I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.

Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.  John 15:1-8

3)  FULFILL THE GREAT COMMISSION:

After His resurrection from the dead and His ascension back to heaven, the Lord Jesus commanded His disciples:

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. AND THESE SIGNS SHALL FOLLOW THEM THAT BELIEVE; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; THEY SHALL LAY HANDS ON THE SICK, and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following." Mark 16:15-20

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.
Matthew 10:8

4)  DO NOT BE ASHAMED OF HIM:

Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.  Matthew 10:32-33

5)  TAKE UP YOUR CROSS AND FOLLOW HIM/LOSE YOUR LIFE & FIND IT:

"If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.”  Mark 8:34

And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” Matthew 10:32-39

The people in Jesus’ time knew exactly what Jesus meant when he said to take up your cross and follow Him.  That was a stark reality to the people of that time who saw many times what death on the cross was.  To take up your cross and to follow Christ meant to give up everything, even your own life and to follow Him.”

6)  KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS - FOLLOW HIM:

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.  John 15:9-12

Master, which is the great commandment in the law?Jesus said unto him,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.  Matthew 22:36-40

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.  Galatians 5:13-14

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.

Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies,

Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,

Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  Galatians 5:16-25

[In sum, after we have repented and become born again believers in Christ, we cannot continue to sin.]
