JESUS IS REST FOR THE WEARY, HE IS HEALING FOR THE BROKENHEARTED - HE IS THE WAY, THE TRUTH AND THE LIFE

God

WHO IS GOD?

There are many different views in the world with regard to the nature of God, the Father – who and what He is.

But, if we believe the Bible to be the Word of God, we need look no further, because therein God declares who He is and what His nature is.

1)  THERE IS ONLY ONE GOD:

"Before me no god was formed, nor shall there be any after me." Isaiah 43:10.

"Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him." Deuteronomy 4:35

"Thus saith the LORD the King of Israel, and his redeemer the LORD of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God." Isaiah 44:6

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."  John 17:3

2)  HE IS EVERLASTING – WITHOUT BEGINNING AND WITHOUT END:

"Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever you had formed the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God." Psalm 90:2

“the everlasting God”  Genesis 21:33

"thou art the same, and thy years have no end".  Psalm 102:27

3)  HE IS THE MAKER OF ALL THINGS AND NO ONE CAN COUNSEL HIM OR REPAY HIM:

"In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." Genesis 1:1

"Who has known the mind of the Lord, or who has been his counselor? Or who has given a gift to him that he might be repaid? For from him and through him and to him are all things. To him be glory forever. Amen." Romans 11:34-36

"For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: " Exodus 20:11

"Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee." Nehemiah 9:6

"Who knoweth not in all these that the hand of the LORD hath wrought this?" Job 12:9

"He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing." Job 26:7

"For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods." Psalm 24:2

"By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth." Psalm 33:6

"The sea is his, and he made it: and his hands formed the dry land." Psalm 95:5

“Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands.” Psalm 102:25

“Who laid the foundations of the earth, that it should not be removed for ever.” Psalms 104:5

"Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding." Isaiah 40:28

"I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their host have I commanded."  Isaiah 45:12

"Mine hand also hath laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand hath spanned the heavens: when I call unto them, they stand up together." Isaiah 48:13

"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:" Acts 4:24

"Hath not my hand made all these things?" Acts 7:50

"And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein:" Acts 14:15

"He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing." Job 26:7

"And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:" Acts 4:24

4)  HE DOES NOT CHANGE:

“And also the Strength of Israel will not lie nor repent: for he is not a man, that he should repent." (1 Samuel 15:29) "Repent" = to change his mind or His ways

"For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven." Psalms 119:89

"For I am the LORD, I change not;. . ." Malachi 3:6

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning." James 1:17

"thou art the same, and thy years have no end".  Psalm 102:27

5)  GOD IS A SPIRIT (HE IS NOT FLESH AND BONE)

"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."  John 4:24 (To clarify, Jesus said:  "Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have” Luke 24:39)

"And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man . . . " Romans 1:23

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: had he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"  Numbers 23:19

6)
HE IS INCOMPARABLE – THERE IS NONE LIKE HIM:

"To whom then will ye liken God? or what likeness will ye compare unto him?" Isaiah 40:18

7)  HE HAS NOT BEEN SEEN BY MAN:

"No man hath seen God". John 1:18

"Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honor and power everlasting. Amen." Timothy 6:16

8)  HE IS THE I AM:

"I am that I am." Exodus 3:14

9)  HE IS NOT CONTAINABLE – HE IS OMNIPRESENT:

"But will God indeed dwell on the earth? behold, the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house that I have builded?" 1 Kings 8:27

"But who is able to build him an house, seeing the heaven and heaven of heavens cannot contain him? who am I then, that I should build him an house, save only to burn sacrifice before him?" 2 Chron. 2:6

"Can any hide himself in secret places that I shall not see him? saith the LORD. Do not I fill heaven and earth? saith the LORD." Jeremiah 23:24

"Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?"  Isaiah 66:1

10)  MOST OF ALL, HE HAS IMMENSE LOVE FOR US:

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"  Romans 8:32

11)  HE IS ONE WITH THE SON:

That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  John 17:21

Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?  Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.  John 14:8-11

12)  WE CAN KNOW HIM:

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent."  John 17:3
